Today, Illinois Governor candidate Darren Bailey officially announced he will remain in the race despite a family tragedy.

Bailey’s son, daughter in law and two grand children were tragically killed in a helicopter crash.

In his video announcement Bailey said, “After a lot of prayer and reflection, Cindy and I have decided we’re staying in this race for governor — not for politics, but for every family trying to make it in a state that’s lost its way, for every parent who dreams of a better future for their children and for every Illinoisan who knows that we can do better.”

With his history of service in Illinois politics, Bailey is the early favorite in the Republican primary to take on Governor JB Pritzker.
