The Peoria County Board voted Thursday night on fee increases that could take effect in the next year. The city council approved the measure which imposes the set of increases.

The fee increases will be used for the coroner’s office, sheriff’s office, health department, animal protection services, and the County Clerk’s office.

Peoria County Administrator Scott Sorrell said the specific fee increases would be a function of the service. Examples cited include the current fee for an autopsy would increase from $267 to $280, and the current price of a birth certificate would increase from $16 to $20 along with other department increases.

The amount of the fee increases were established by a third party firm to review and recommend the new fee amounts.

According to Sorrell, each fee adjustment was determined following a bi-annual third-party fee study.
