Since we first reported on required boil orders in Mount Vernon back in October, the problems residents face have only continued.
A boil order was issued on October 29th with special considerations for area hospitals, nursing homes, factories and schools. Another was issued the very next day with the same considerations. The village did not announce on the official Facebook when those were lifted.
It is mandated that a boil order must be issued for a period of at least 24 hours and the quality of the water must be tested for safety before the order is lifted.
Then on November 19th, another boil order with considerations was issued. It was lifted on the 20th seemingly in accordance with regulations.
The very next day, an order was issued on the 20th. This one was not lifted until the 26th but fortunately in time for Thanksgiving.
Residents are understandably expressing their frustration and answers have not been provided as to why the problems continue.
